The recently released Oregon Angel Investment report provides an overview of investment in Oregon’s entrepreneurial enterprises, in order to provide context for discussions regarding the economic impact of these early stage investments. The report discusses several categories of investment, including seed, angel, and venture capital. After providing a definition and context for each of these categories, the report discusses the economic benefits of investment in high tech industries and the rise of an innovation economy in the U.S., which is creating new jobs and sustainable growth for the future. Also discussed in the report, are tax incentive programs offered in states throughout the U.S., and the impacts on innovation and job creation that these programs have produced, as well as examples of the organizations within Oregon that already exist to support entrepreneurism, and the impact that their help has had on Oregon’s growth industry ecosystem.
