Facebook chooses Portland advertising firm as its agency of record
By Business News Note,

The Portland-based advertising agency of Widen+Kennedy was named as Facebook’s agency of record. One billion people are now actively using Facebook each month, and to celebrate, Facebook hired Widen+Kennedy to produce a brand campaign, a 90-second video titled, “The Things That Connect Us.”

The theme of the video is the things people use to get together and connect, to remind themselves that they are not alone: chairs, doorbells, bridges, dance floors, and of course, Facebook. You can watch the video on YouTube here:

The Oregonian reported that Wieden+Kennedy was awarded advertising agency of the year and independent agency of the year by the International Festival of Creativity in France this past June. Last year, the ad agency posted a 20 percent revenue gain. The 30-year-old agency in Portland’s Pearl district is considered “one of the most influential agencies in the world,” wrote Allan Brettman of the Oregonian.

Interesting business news note. It proves there are other ad agencies outside of NYC and good ones at that.
