Top 10 business agenda items for 2019

National Small Business Association

The National Small Business Association (NSBA) earlier voted on its Top Ten Priorities for the 116th Congress, a result of the Small Business Congress in Washington, D.C. Small businesses voted to make reining-in the costs of health care their number one priority for Congress and the administration to address in the coming two years.

“After a bruising midterm election, America’s small-business owners expect policymakers to put the stump-speeches down and get to work,” stated Todd McCracken NSBA president and CEO. “The issues our members voted as top priorities have real-world implications on our communities and the broader U.S. economy. I look forward to working with lawmakers—regardless of party—on solutions to these problems impacting us all.”

NSBA’s Top Priorities for the 116th Congress are:

1. Rein-in the Costs of Health Care
2. Tax Reform 2.0
3. Trained Workforce
4. Deficit Reduction and Entitlement Reform
5. Cybersecurity & Financial Protection
6. Immigration Reform
7. Internet Data Protection Requirements
8. Access to Credit & Strengthen SBA Lending
9. White House Conference on Small Business
10. Regulatory Reform and National Regulatory Budget

“I applaud the small-business owners who participated in this process throughout the country and in Washington, D.C. to develop this robust small-business agenda,” stated NSBA Chair Cynthia Kay of Cynthia Kay and Co. “These priority issues are what we constantly hear from our members—it’s time lawmakers get to work on them.”

Celebrating more than 80 years in operation, NSBA is a staunchly nonpartisan organization advocating on behalf of America’s entrepreneurs. NSBA’s 65,000 members represent every state and every industry in the U.S. Please visit www.nsba.biz or follow us at @NSBAAdvocate.
