Gert Boyle: From $100M secret donor to video humor

It was a mystery on who donated $100 million to OHSU this year. After some media pressure OHSU decided to make public their previously secret donor on their Facebook page and also a You Tube video (see below). The video depicts Oregon’s renowned Columbia Sportswear entrepreneur, Gert Boyle, with a jocular lemonade glass toast to kick cancer’s (bleep). OHSU is also emphasizing that people “give with Gert” and make their own donation [6]. The donation was needed to help match NIKE’s Phil Knight’s matching gift of $500 million. Gert’s contribution helped close that gap to $428 million of the $500 million needed to be raised. Gert Boyle’s late sister, Hildegard Lamfrom, was a famed biologist and OHSU researcher.
