Microsoft co-founder, Paul Allen has sold his private island to Eric C. Anderson, CEO of Intentional Software Corp.. Allen originally intended to build a vacation home on Allan Island, but opted instead to build on Sperry Peninsula on the east side of Lopez Island. The 292-acre, privately-owned island west of Anacortes in the San Juan Island chain sold for $8 million, less than one-third of the original 2005 asking price of $25 million. Holding company, AI Project LLC was set up to complete the transaction for Anderson and a group of private investors.

Anderson has a computer science and aerospace engineering degree from the University of Virginia. He was a co-founder of Space Adventures, Ltd., the first spaceflight tourism company. Anderson is also the chairman of Planetary Power, Inc. and co-chairman of Planetary Resources, a company focused on development and deployment of asteroid mining technologies.
